Why V Festival?

The 2016 V Festival promises to maintain its impeccable festival standards with a scorching, diverse line-up . The first V took place in ‘96, adopting the appropriate name of ‘V96.’

21 years old, and V Fest is running alongside some of the UK’s largest (and well-known) festivals, such as Reading and Leeds Festival, Glastonbury and T in the Park.

What makes V Festival bigger and better than the rest is the fact that it was the first festival ever to take place in two places over the same weekend.

While punters stay firmly rooted to their wet tents, the bands make the effort to travel down the country and play the same set to music thirsty fans.

This gives music fans, from the North and the South of England, a chance to share the same experiences and witness some of the finest bands around.

It also allows musicians the chance to play two huge live dates back-to-back and enjoy the dedicated crowds of North and South.

This years V Festival has a diverse mix of bands playing. You can slosh about in the mud to the likes of the Kings of Leon, Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, The Pigeon Detectives, The View and The Kooks, or you can chill out with Duffy.

Oh, did we mention that the incredible Amy Winehouse will also be making an appearance?

If the grimy Rock scene doesn’t float your boat then you can catch some of the UK’s finest Pop acts including the Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Robyn, and hot new artist, David Jordan.

Top Historical V Festival moments

1. 2006 proved to be the most successful year of the V Festival so far. With tickets selling out in three hours, both days were crammed full with eager music fans, with over 158,000 people attending both days.

2. V96 kicked off its first year with great magnitude. Sinking heavily into the Brit Pop fanaticism that had swept the UK off of its feet, the line-up saw the likes of Pulp, Supergrass, Cast, Elastica, Super Furry Animals, Lightening Seeds, Shed 7 and Sleeper all play over the two days. A Brit Pop dream.

3. In 2006, Radiohead put on a splintering performance. They blew the crowd away with an eerie, sincere version of Creep, everyone’s favourite Radiohead song, but one that the band detests playing live.

  1. At previous v festivals I have been to at Stafford, they had early bird camping (arrive thursday). However last year this didn’t happen due to licencing issues. V also said that the early entry would be available this year (2010) but I can’t find information/tickets anywhere. Does anyone have an idea whether the Thursday camping will be happening this year?

    Thanks!
